The semester started out so nicely. New classes, new teachers, and new assignments. So what happened? I’m not sure. I’m still asking myself that same question.
The first thing that happened is that a class that I was excited for didn’t have a listing for the classroom so I had to call my adviser to ask where the class was supposed to be. Have you ever tried to find a class when not even the teacher knows where you’re supposed to meet? Have you ever done it blind? In this case that meant a call to my advisor who thankfully knew.
The second thing that happened is that (for the same class) I had to give a student a set of tests. Since it involved having the student read aloud and spell words ETC. That meant that I had to dig up my pacmate (which is the only braille display I possess). Yay! Not!
The third thing that happened and really the whole reason why I started writing this blog in the first place is that I ended up taking a couple of online classes that require I attend online meetings. The meetings used a software called big blue button and requires that one uses flashplayer. (See the problem?) In general flash player is not accessible with screenreaders.
So I contacted support who told me that there was something the teacher can use called whiteboard. (which I still couldn’t use because I couldn’t click on the player). (Well at least I kind of got a good grade… I hope)
Anyway moral of the story… big blue button is not accessible. And also, who has a pacmate anymore? lol. Thanks for reading!
